LINGUA FRANCA HUB
an Australian Start-Up  based in Sydney

LFH will allow people to carry the world in the palm of their hands. It will be an enabler for people around the globe to be understood. Eventually, through an interpreter, the world will become smaller and friendlier. Only fully accredited NAATI interpreters or equivalent of those from the UK, Canada, Ireland etc can work in this hub. The better the interpreter, the lesser the chance of the lost in translation phenomenon.

How Does LFH Work?

The same way your ride sharing app connects you with a driver, LFH connects you with an interpreter, in real-time, usually within seconds. Just as your driver then gets you where you need to go, LFH’s interpreters then make sure you’re understood in the moments when it matters.

OUTSTANDING
INTERPRETERS

LFH will rely on the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI), a world class qualification, for its interpreters. The only exceptions are for experts in rarer languages. For example, service providers for languages like Latvian, Hebrew, and Afrikaans may not yet be registered with NAATI. In those cases, LFH will use its pool of vetted interpreters with similar international language certifications. LFH’s roster includes interpreters from the UK's Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), American Translators Association (ATA), and their equivalents from around the globe.

BROAD-BASED USE OF TECHNOLOGY

At Lingua Franca Hub, we are passionate about breaking down language barriers and creating a more connected world. Our team of experienced developers and linguists work tirelessly to provide the best possible service to our clients.

DISCOUNTS FOR ESSENTIAL SERVICES

LFH understands when your needs are urgent. LFH endeavors to provide generously discounted services for essential services like State Emergency Services, Fire, Police, Ambulance, Hospital Emergencies and ICU situations.

TRANSPARENT AND SIMPLE PAY SCALE

LFH uses a transparent and easy-to-use pay scale for interpreters, and a clear sliding scale calculator for clients. Pensioners and veterans receive interpretation services free (T&C). With LFH, understanding is essential — and also affordable.

MULTIPLE LANGUAGE INTERFACE

To start, LFH will provide 10 different languages on its home screen. More languages will be added as the app is developed. So if you need to get from Italian to English, LFH can get you there, molto veloce.

SHORT WAITING TIMES GUARANTEED

Sometimes, the waiting is the hardest part. LFH knows that when it comes to interpretation, time is of the essence. LFH guarantee will be:

  • A maximum two minute wait for on-demand over-the-phone interpreters

  • A maximum ten minute wait for on-demand Aslan video interpreting

  • A maximum thirty minute wait for video interpretation

  • A maximum one hour wait for face-to-face interpretation.

LFH strives to make  these times a lot shorter than those of any existing language service provider currently in the marketplace. So, no awkward times at your meeting while you wait to understand the Chinese delegation.

THE HUMAN NEED TO BE UNDERSTOOD

Interpretation in the moment has to be reliable, rapid, and affordable. LFH addresses those essential needs in a way that’s user-friendly for anyone who needs it, whether that means corporate titans or new migrants struggling with their language needs. Let the world open up for you!

THE WORLD IS GETTING MORE INTERCONNECTED. BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN WE ALL SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE.

As remote work becomes increasingly the norm and the world grows more interconnected, we’re becoming more and more reliant on making ourselves understood across barriers of language and culture. But we’re not just talking trivia and in short tourist-guidebook phrases: We’re talking about complex and urgent matters, too. If we really want to be understood, and not inadvertently cause offense or amusement, that means more than a quick check of Google Translate can offer us.

THE GLOBAL NEED FOR INTERPRETATION

Wars and the exodus of refugees anticipated owing to climate change are not just humanitarian crises; they are language crises. Enormous numbers of people are finding themselves in their new countries, unable to communicate. At the same time, they now feel the responsibility to preserve their own languages, and an unwillingness to assimilate completely. That will mean an ever-growing need for interpretation that is reliable and accessible. It’s critical for stability, healthcare, and basic human communication.

OLDER MIGRANTS AND INTERPRETATION

While some younger migrants will eventually master a new language, older migrants will naturally struggle. Hand gestures, pointing, and words that sound similar in your own language might get you by (just) when you’re shopping for a couple of bananas and a bag of oranges. But those handy skills won’t work when the stakes are higher, like when you’re communicating with medical professionals or essential government services.

LFH: HELPING BUILD A FAIRER SOCIETY

Many of the least privileged members of our community — the ones who need a voice the most — are the ones who struggle the most being understood. LFH will connect individuals from non-English speaking backgrounds on concession cards with many government agencies effectively, and free of charge. Unhoused individuals, humanitarian visa holders, pensioners, and women fleeing domestic violence situations can all now have their interpretation needs met without worrying how they will pay for them. And the benefits of these better instances of communication flow to all of society.
